The 2024 North American Open Finals to Head to Tucson, Arizona, December 5-8, 2024

The 2024 North American Open Finals are heading to Tucson, Ariz., December 5-8, 2024. The competition, which is being held in conjunction with Visit Tucson, will feature approximately 800 lifters at the Tucson Convention Center. 

“USA Weightlifting is excited to partner with Visit Tucson and our Arizona weightlifting clubs to host this event in Tucson,” said Pedro Meloni, USA Weightlifting Director of Events and Sponsorships. “We look forward to bringing the top weightlifters from across the United States to Tucson and putting on a world class event for the participants and spectators.” 

Located in downtown Tucson, the Tucson Convention Center boasts over 200,000 square feet of event space and will serve as the perfect venue for this elite level weightlifting event while the Arizona weather will provide mild temperatures for visitors.  

The 2024 North American Open Series competition, the most prestigious weightlifting circuit in the United States, will begin in March in Columbus, Ohio and close out the year in Tucson. Stay tuned for an upcoming announcement on the 2024 North American Open Series II details. 

2024 North American Open Finals qualifying will begin on November 6, 2023 and run through November 6, 2024 and athletes can qualify directly via their placement in the North American Open Series as well.  For more information about qualifying for the event, please refer to the National Event policies. 

Following what will take place in the 2024 North American Series, the Finals will feature a Junior division. Junior athletes can place in both their respective age groups as well as the open division with no need for additional registrations.
