WSO Election Information

WSO Information: There are 26 WSOs (Weightlifting State Organizations) that represent the different geographical regions of the United States. These committees are made up of volunteers from the USAW membership who want to support their local weightlifters by initiating grassroots activities and the annual WSO Championship. A committee typically meets 1x per month and is led by the WSO President with support from the USAW National Office.

WSO Committee Responsibilities:

  • Put on annual WSO Championship Meet
  • Assist in formation of new clubs, coaches and members 
  • Provide resources and information about USAW events to WSO members
  • Collaborate with USAW National Office for grassroots initiatives (ex: coach education scholarships)

2025 WSO Election Schedule

September: Ohio, New Jersey, Michigan, Wisconsin

October: Illinois, Indiana, Georgia, Alabama

November: Mountain North, California North, California South, Hawaii and Intl., Florida

WSO Committee#

WSO Committees are made up of 9 representatives (6 athlete, 3 non-athlete). One member of the elected committee is voted on by the committee to serve as the WSO President.

  • WSO President

    Responsibilities:

    1. Submit meeting minutes
    2. Request funding for grassroots initiatives
    3. Approve sanction requests for local meets
  • WSO Representative (6)

    Eligibility:

    • Valid USAW Member
    • 18 years of age or older

    *No more than one representative can come from the same club

  • WSO Athlete Representative

    Eligibility:

    • Valid USAW Member
    • 18 years of age or older
    • Competed in at least one (1) national level USAW event in the last ten (10) years ex: National Championships Week

    *No more than one athlete representative can come from the same club
