Weightlifting State Organizations (WSOs) Resource Page

The WSOs are local committees made up of 9 elected volunteers. One of the 9 members serves as the WSO President. Each WSO committee uses a designated budget to hold an annual WSO Championship, provide scholarship oppurtunities and grow weightlifting in their region. 

The WSOs are spread out geographically. The state you reside in determines your WSO affiliation. Click here to find your WSO.

If your WSO is not up for election you can still be involved! Many WSOs need help with the WSO Championship. You can also keep an eye out for various vacancy elections that fill 1 or 2 positions throughout the year. Start by reaching out to your WSO President.

WSO committee elections will be staggered so that half (1/2) of the WSOs have committee elections every four (4) years beginning in 2023, and half (1/2) have committee elections every four (4) years beginning in 2025. There were 13 elections held in Fall 2025 with the new committees starting January 1, 2026. The next 13 WSOs will have elections in Fall 2027 with a start date of January 1, 2028.

Each year, the WSO committee hosts a WSO Championship. This event bring together athletes from all over the region to compete in a higher level event. Some regions also host State Championships in addition to their WSO Championship. Most WSO Championships happen during the months of September and October.
