Vice Chair Tayler Harris Resigning from Board of Directors

COLORADO SPRINGS – USA Weightlifting Board of Directors Vice Chair Tayler Harris is resigning from her position on the board. Harris will stay on until a replacement has been seated, but she plans to wrap up her role before the end of 2025.  Her term is slated to expire on Dec. 31, 2026. A National Athlete Director and also an Athlete Advisory Council member, Harris has been part of the Board of Directors since 2023.

“Tayler’s care and diligence as both our national athlete representative and vice chair have left a lasting impact on USA Weightlifting,” said Michael Choi, Chair of the USA Weightlifting Board of Directors. “Her steadfast focus on athlete wellbeing and her thoughtful leadership have guided us through important moments. Beyond her service, Tayler has been a trusted colleague and a good friend. We’re so grateful for all she’s given to our community.”

Harris was elected to the board shortly after taking gold at the 2022 IWF Masters World Championships. At that competition, Harris broke the women’s age 35 71 kg masters total world record by 10 kilograms with her 203 kg total. Harris also represented the U.S. and took silver at the 2018 International Qatar Cup and 2019 British International Open. More recently, Harris earned masters W35 76 kg gold at the 2025 USAW Masters National Championships in Atlanta and finished 11th overall at 77 kg at the 2025 USAW National Championships. Harris was the first athlete-representative to be elected into a leadership position on the board since 2010.

“Being elected by my fellow athletes to represent their interests on the USAW Board of Directors and serving as Vice Chair has been one of the greatest honors of my career, second only to representing Team USA,” said Harris. “I have strived to advocate for athletes’ best interests, support the future of the organization, and help ensure that all athletes have the opportunity to compete in this sport. My decision to resign from the Board of Directors was not made lightly, but I believe it is necessary to uphold the integrity and credibility of this board.”

“I am extremely grateful for Tayler’s service to USAW and the sport of weightlifting,” said USAW President & CEO Matt Sicchio. “She is a powerful advocate for athletes and a purpose-driven leader who fiercely pursues and defends USAW’s mission. I will miss working with Tayler in her board capacity but look forward to staying connected with her through her other roles in our sport and organization.”

Harris expects to stay engaged with the USAW community, and she’ll continue her term as an AAC representative. USAW will run a special election before year-end to fill Harris’ seat on the board. That person will complete the final months of Harris’ existing term-until 12/31/26-and will then be eligible to run for reelection thereafter.
