USA Weightlifting Withdraws from the 2023 Junior Pan Ams Due to Increased Volcanic Activity

Following guidance from the U.S. State Department and advisories from the Servicio Geologico Colombiano, USA Weightlifting has withdrawn from the 2023 Junior Pan American Championships in Manizales, Colombia.  

The seismic activity of Volcan Nevado del Ruiz has increased and it is now considered unstable with a permanent threat level of orange until an imminent volcanic eruption in the coming days or weeks.  As the health and safety of our athletes and delegation members will always be the top priority, we have determined that the risk is too high to send a team into the area and we have made the decision to withdraw from the event.
