USAW Coach Education BIPOC Community Scholarship Program


USA Weightlifting offers a limited number of tuition scholarships to qualified BIPOC coaches to attend either the Level 1 or Level 2 Coach Certification courses. The scholarship covers the tuition cost of the certification. Any travel-related or non-tuition expenses are not covered. Scholarships may only be applied to new purchases.

Availability

This scholarship is only awarded through Weightlifting State Organizations. WSO's that opt to participate in this scholarship accept applications on an individual basis and availability varies by region. To learn more, contact your local Weightlifting State Organization

 

Selection Criteria

These scholarships are awarded on the basis of the following criteria.

  • Applicants must meet all requirements, deadlines, and complete the scholarship application.
  • Applicants who are or plan to work with underserved populations in a weightlifting or sport capacity are preferred.
  • Applicants with less than 5 years of coaching experience are preferred.
  • Applicants with experience in the sport of weightlifting as an athlete or as a coach are preferred.
  • Applicants with high levels of coaching success, social impact through sport, and/or academic achievement in sport are preferred.

Eligibility

Recipients must be at least 17 years old and identify as a member of the BIPOC community.
