USAW Elects Adam Kleinfeld to Board of Directors

COLORADO SPRINGS - Adam Kleinfeld has been elected to the USA Weightlifting Board of Directors. He becomes the 12th representative on the Board led by Chair Jenny Schumacher and Vice Chair Shameeka Quallo.

“I am thrilled to be joining USA Weightlifting, especially on the heels of our athletes’ success in Paris,” Kleinfeld said. “I am eager to start working with all of our members, officers, and athletes alike to continue the great legacy of this organization, and doing so in a manner that ensures all our stakeholders have their interests considered and protected at all times. I will lean on my experiences in both law and sports to contribute meaningfully in any way that I can to aid this organization in fulfilling its mission."

“I am thrilled to welcome Adam to the USA Weightlifting Board of Directors as an Independent Director,” said Board Chair Jenny Schumacher. “Adam brings a wealth of professional experience and skills that will significantly enhance the expertise and vision of our Board. His prior service on professional boards, his deep understanding of sport, and his understanding of the Olympic movement make him a valuable asset to our organization. I very much appreciate his willingness to lend his expertise and commitment to supporting USA Weightlifting, and I look forward to the positive impact he will have on the organization.”

Kleinfeld earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Boston College in 2015 before going on to earn both his M.B.A. and J.D. from the university in 2019. He has since served as an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP in Boston and Corporate Counsel with Vinik Sports Group in Tampa, Florida. Kleinfeld’s work with Foley and Lardner included advising a sports company regarding new sports gambling regulatory regimes in various states, counseling a private equity fund sponsor in a $780M fund formation, and serving as seller’s counsel in the sale of a sports media company. His position with Vinik Sports Group included managing legal risk and providing legal support for the Tampa Bay Lightning and two multi-purpose arenas. He also drafted and negotiated a diverse range of contracts.

In June 2023, Kleinfeld was elected to the USA Karate ethics committee. The committee is responsible for promoting ethical behavior, enforcing fair play, and addressing any violations of the organization’s Code of Ethics.
