The Medalists

Reeves lifted 123/155/278 to sweep gold and set three senior world records in the 77 kg category. She won by 26 kg, which is the largest margin of victory for an American in the two-lift era. In the same session, Mattie Rogers earned clean & jerk bronze after lifting 107/140/247. Her 14th senior worlds medal is the second-most for an American woman (Robin Goad, 19).

Morris and Theisen-Lappen made sure that each Olympian medaled in this competition. Morris lifted 133/178/311 to earn bronze in the clean & jerk and total in the 65 kg category. He attempted the C&J world record at 183 kg twice, and cleaned it both times. Morris is the first American man to medal in the total since Harrison Maurus in 2017, and just the second since Wes Barnett in 1997. Theisen-Lappen also took bronze in the clean & jerk and total on a 2-for-6 day, lifting 115/154/269.

In her first Senior Worlds, Ulrey earned bronze in the snatch with an international PR at 98 kg. She lifted 117 in the clean & jerk and 215 in the total to finish in fifth place overall.

Showing Our Medal

Prior to this streak of eight straight senior worlds with a medal, the U.S. hadn’t earned a medal since 2005. Since 2017, the Americans have earned 49 medals. Rogers and Reeves have accounted for just over half of those medals with 25 between the two of them. Between Reeves and Morris, the United States has earned gold medals in three straight senior worlds.

Heating Up

44 of the 49 medals are from the women’s team, but the men are showing big improvement. Since at least 1998, only one American man had finished in the top five going into 2017. Since then, five men have finished in the top five. This year, Morris and Caden Cahoy marked the first time in that stretch that two men accomplished the feat in the same year.

Top 5 Men’s Finishers since 1998:

Hampton Morris (3rd 65 kg, 2025)

Caden Cahoy (5th 79 kg, 2025)

Nathan Damron (5th 89 kg, 2022)

Ian Wilson (5th 109 kg, 2021)

Harrison Maurus (3rd 77 kg, 2017)

Shane Hamman (5th 105 kg, 2002)

M 60 kg A session

Chhum placed sixth in the snatch, but was called for a press out on two clean & jerks and did not produce a total. It’s the first time in 22 total competitions that Chhum hasn’t totaled. At the 2022 Senior World Championships, Chhum placed ninth in the snatch and finished 10th in the total. He has since placed first and second, respectively, at the 2023 and 2024 Junior Worlds before his return to senior international competition this year.

As he did in Colombia for the Sr. PAC, Chhum opened the snatch at 120 kg. After nailing the opener, he missed at 123 kg. Chhum came back with a 2 kg increase and showed grit as he matched his competition PR with a 125 kg snatch. It’s the second time he’s hit the number internationally, and the first since last September at the 2024 Junior Worlds. Chhum was called for a press-out on his first clean & jerk attempt at 151 kg. He came back at 152 kg but couldn’t stick the jerk. His third attempt was his best and initially ruled a good lift by majority vote, but the jury overturned the decision at 152 kg due to a press-out of the right arm.

M 65 kg A session

Hampton Morris lifted 133/178/311 to earn bronze medals in both the clean & jerk and total at the 2025 Senior World Championships in Forde, Norway. He is the first American man to medal in the total at a Senior World Championships since Harrison Maurus in 2017, and the second since Wes Barnett in 1997.

Morris missed his first snatch attempt at 131 kg before coming back and hitting 133 kg. After a long break as the competition kept pushing the weight up, Morris came back out to attempt what would have been an international PR of 139 kg. He hit 137 kg in Colombia at the Sr. PAC in July, but the 139 kg proved to be too much in Norway. The 133 kg that he hit left him in ninth place heading into clean & jerks, where he holds the world record at 181 kg. Morris made his opener in the clean & jerk at 178 kg. He bumped up to 183 kg to attempt a new world record, but couldn’t complete the jerk on either of his last two attempts. The 311 kg total is 102.30% of the American A standard.

W 58 kg A session

Miranda Ulrey earned a bronze medal with her international PR snatch of 98 kg, while her 117 kg clean & jerk placed ninth. She went 4-for-6 and lifted 98/117/215 to place fifth in the 58 kg category. Ulrey came into Senior Worlds on an international competition win streak of three – she took gold at the 2024 Junior Worlds and Junior Pan Ams, as well as the 2025 Senior Pan Ams.

Ulrey opened her snatches at 96 kg, just two below her competition PR. She nailed the opener and came back to hit 98 kg for a new international PR and her first Senior Worlds medal. In the clean & jerks, she hit her opener at 117 kg but failed attempts at 121 and 122 kg that both would have been new international PRs. The 215 kg total is 100.00% of the American A standard.

W 63 kg A session

Sophie Shaft placed fifth across the board after lifting 101/126/227 on a 2-for-6 day. She improved two spots and two kilos from her 2024 Senior Worlds finish of 7th place and 225 kg.

Shaft opened with a missed -101 kg snatch attempt, but redeemed that weight on her next attempt to match her international PR. Her third attempt at 103 kg would have matched her competition PR set at this year’s USAW Nationals, but she couldn’t hold onto it overhead. She nailed her clean & jerk opener at 126 kg, matching her international PR set in May at the Junior Worlds, but missed at 129 and 130 kg. Her total of 227 kg is 100.89% of the American A standard.

Katie Estep went 3-for-6 and lifted 98/125/223 to place sixth. 223 kg is shy of her results at this year’s Sr. PAC and USAW Nationals of 228 kg and 229 kg, but is a two-kilo and four-spot improvement on her 2024 Senior Worlds finish of 221 kg and 10th place.

Estep hit 95 and 98 kg on her first two snatch attempts and then missed what would have been a competition PR at 101 kg. She hit the highest clean & jerk opener of her career at 125 kg, but missed 128 and 129 kg. Her total of 223 kg is 99.11% of the American A standard.

M 79 kg A session

Caden Cahoy lifted 155/198/353 in the 79 kg A session, finishing eighth in the snatch, fourth in the clean & jerk, and fifth in the total. He attempted 204 kg, which would have matched the world record set one lift before by Rizki Juniansyah of Indonesia, but Cahoy couldn’t stick the jerk after successfully cleaning the barbell. His 353 kg total is a 21 kg improvement from his 2024 Senior Worlds total in December, and a 43 kg improvement from 2023. The fifth-place finish is a one spot improvement over the 2024 Senior Worlds for Cahoy, where he was 17 kilos behind the first place finisher in the 73 kg category. This year, he was just eight kilos back of the first place finisher in the 79 kg category.

Cahoy opened with a successful snatch at 150 kg. After taking a four kilo jump and missing at 154 kg, Cahoy confidently went to 155 kg and stuck a one kilo competition PR in the snatch. Similar to the Sr. PAC in July, Cahoy hit his first two clean & jerks at 193 and 198 kg before cleaning 204 kg and falling just short of the jerk. His 353 kg total is 101.73% of the American A standard.

M 79 kg B session

Ryan Grimsland set three international PRs and placed eighth after going 4-for-6 and lifting 152/190/342. In what was his third Senior Worlds, Grimsland improved 16 kilos and two spots from his last outing in 2023.

Grimsland’s snatch portion went exactly as it did at the 2025 USAW Nationals, with him making 147 and 152 kg before missing at 155 kg. In the clean & jerks, however, he set a new personal record of 190 kg on his second attempt, after nailing a 185 kg opener. He then missed at 195 kg. His 342 total is 98.56% of the American A standard.

M 88 kg B session

Victorian hit 153/187/340 in the 88 kg category to place ninth in the snatch and 10th in the clean 7 jerk and total. 340 kg is five kilos off of his international best set at the 2024 Senior Worlds, and 10 kilos from his competition PR set just a few months ago at the USAW National Championships. Victorian went 4-for-6 in Colorado Springs to lift 157/193/350.

On a 2-for-6 day for Victorian, the 88 kg lifter made both of his second attempts in the snatch and the clean & jerk. After missing 153 kg in the snatch, he came back to hit that same weight before missing at 157 kg. In the clean & jerk, he bumped up and hit 187 kg after missing 186 kg, but failed the clean on a nine kilo increase to 196 kg. 340 kg is 92.64% of the American A standard.

W 77 kg A session

Reeves was flawless in the snatch portion, hitting a 114 kg opener that would secure gold after Egypt’s Sara Ahmed missed her final attempt at 115 kg. Reeves’ eyes were set on the world record, however, as she quickly snatched 119 kg before loading 123 kg on the bar – one kilo over the world standard. Reeves managed to make that 123 kg look easy as she set the tone on how this competition would go. In the clean & jerks, Reeves avoided making it look too easy by dropping her opener at 146 kg. She came right back out and made up for the miss before Ahmed missed attempts at 147 kg and 150 kg. With a gold medal sweep wrapped up, Reeves made a nine kilogram jump to one-kilo the C&J world standard, and finished the day with an incredible lift at 155 kg to set her second and third world records of the session. The 278 kg total is 116.81% of the American A standard.

Rogers hit her opening snatch at 107 kg, but missed the next two attempts at 110 and 111 kg. The clean & jerk portion was competitive, as Mattie made her opener at 135 kg and then burned Colombian Mari Sanchez’s clock after she missed her second attempt at 136 kg. Perez made her third attempt, and then Rogers watched Brazilian Laura Amaro miss 137 kg and then make 139 kg. Now with pressure on her to improve upon to 135 kg, Rogers took the platform at 140 kg. She made the clean look easy and got the jerk above her head, but couldn’t hold onto it. With one attempt left to make this the sixth Senior Worlds she’s medaled in, Rogers came back and stuck the jerk at 140 kg. The 247 kg is 103.78% of the American A standard.

W 86 kg B session

On a career day, Anna McElderry went 5-for-6 and hit three competition PRs by lifting 106/129/235. In just her second senior international competition, McElderry placed 11th overall and 13th in both the snatch and the clean & jerk.

McElderry was flawless in the snatch, hitting 101, 104, and 106 kg for a one kilo PR. She then hit the heaviest clean & jerk opener of her career at 124 kg before a four kilo jump to 128 kg. She initially made her second attempt, but the jury overturned it. So, she came back and nailed 129 kg for another one kilo PR and a two kilo PR in the total. The 235 kg is 97.11% of the American A standard.

M 110 kg B session

Kolbi Ferguson went 3-for-6 in his second Senior World Championships, lifting 174/222/396 to place 13th in the snatch, fourth in the clean & jerk, and seventh in the total at 110 kg. With PRs in both lifts, Ferguson set an eight kilogram competition PR in his total.

Ferguson opened competition with two consecutive misses in the snatch at 173 kg before coming up clutch with a make at 174 kg. After another miss in his opening clean & jerk at 215 kg, Ferguson came back to hit that weight and match his competition PR from July’s Sr. Pan Ams. At that event, he also attempted 222 and 224 kg but came up short. In Norway, Ferguson bumped up to 222 kg and stuck the lift on his final attempt to set a seven kilo C&J PR. His 396 kg total is 102.06% of the American A standard.

Theisen-Lappen went 2-for-6 and lifted 115/154/269 to earn two bronze medals in her second senior worlds appearance. Back in 2023, she earned silver in the clean & jerk and total. Her four medals are tied for third-most with fellow super-heavyweight Sarah Robles since 2017.

Theisen-Lappen made her opener at 115 kg, but missed at 118 and 119 kg. In the clean & jerks, she missed 154 kg but came back to make the weight. Her final attempt at 159 kg was ruled a good lift, but was overturned for a press out. Her 269 kg total is 102.28% of the American A standard.

M +110 kg A session

Aaron Williams didn’t record a total after going 2-for-3 in the snatch and hitting 185 kg to place fourth. His last attempt at the clean & jerk was overturned due to a pressout. Williams currently holds American records of 187 kg and 411 kg in the snatch and the total, respectively.

Williams opened snatch at 180 kg with a make. He missed his second attempt at 185 kg, but came back to hit that weight. Williams missed his first two clean & jerks at 220 and 221 kg, but came back with a valiant effort at 225 kg that was initially ruled a good lift by majority vote. After jury review, it was overturned. The 225 kg would have been an American record after he matched the current standard of 224 kg at the Senior Pan Ams.
