by USA Weightlifting
Colorado Springs, Colorado (May 13, 2021) -- After consultation with the USA Weightlifting Sports Medicine Society, the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee’s Sport Medicine Department, and medical experts with the Detroit Sports Commission, USA Weightlifting will be moving forward with plans for in-person competition at the Nike USA Weightlifting Nationals Weekpowered by Rogue Fitness, June 25-July 4 at the TCF Center in Detroit, Michigan.
We are excited to welcome our community to Detroit to celebrate the sport we all love in a safe and secure environment.
With the safety of all athletes, coaches and others attending paramount, USA Weightlifting updated its Back to Lifting guidelines that will govern the health and safety protocols for the event. As in previous events, Participants will be required to provide the following to receive their credential:

2) Proof of complete vaccination with the last dose taken at least by June 16, 2021 (meaning 10 days prior to the start of the event); or
3) A written or electronic documentation of recovery from COVID-19 after a previous SARS-CoV-2 infection in the form of a positive viral test result and a letter from a licensed healthcare provider or public health official stating the individual has been cleared. The infection had to occur within 90 days of June 26, 2021.
Masks must be worn at all times, except in situations as described in the Back to Lifting guidelines.
A limited-capacity on-site training hall will be provided.
Registration is open until 2PM Mountain on May 27. Late registration runs from May 27-June 3.Coaches who wish to be in the warm-up area must register as a coach in BARS and must produce a negative PCR COVID-19 test, proof of vaccination or proof of recovery as outlined above. Failure to do so will result in the coach not being allowed into the venue.
We anticipate the ability to allow a limited number ofspectators access to the venue, however USA Weightlifting reserves the right to further restrict or cancel spectator access to the venue. Like athletes and coaches, spectators must present a negative COVID-19 test, proof of recovery or proof of vaccination as defined above and in the Back to Lifting guidelines.
Spectator ticketswill soon be available at www.weightliftingtickets.com and will be available at the door. However, it is recommended to purchase tickets in advance. A spectator ticket does not guarantee access to the venue, as the entire venue will be subject to capacity limits. Further information about spectator access and capacity controls will be announced closer to the start of the competition.
Furthermore, by registering, attending, entering, or otherwise engaging with the USA Weightlifting National Championships week, the participant agrees to abide by the USA Weightlifting Back to Lifting guidelines, as well as associated instructions of USA Weightlifting staff, TCF Center Staff, TCF Center Security, the Technical Controller and/or USA Weightlifting medical personnel while on site.
