NOTE: As of Sept. 17, 2021, the XL Int. Manuel Suarez In Memoriam has been canceled due to the IWF World Championships being contested at the same time. USA Weightlifting will be sending a team to the 2022 event in March.

USA Weightlifting has been invited to attend the 2021 XL Int. “Manuel Suarez In Memoriam” competition from December 12-18, 2021 in Matanzas, CUB.

This is a great opportunity to expand your international experience and represent Team USA!

Weight Categories to be contested:

Men:

55kg, 61kg, 67kg, 73kg, 81kg, 89kg, 96kg, 102kg, 109kg, +109kg

Women:

45kg, 49kg, 55kg, 59kg, 64kg, 71kg, 76kg, 81kg, 87kg, +87kg

*Limited to two athletes per weight class per nation.

Funding:

This is a self-funded opportunity

Currently, there is no Cost/Transportation/Accommodation information available from the Organizing Committee but once received you will be contacted by the national office.

Requirements:

Please note athletes must meet all requirements expressed in the USA Weightlifting Selection Procedures, with particular attention paid to the USADA Lift Clean RTP requirement and minimum performance requirements needed to represent the USA on the international stage.

Selection:

Per the 2020-2024 NRS Selection Procedures, those athletes in each contested weight category with the highest NRS score will be given the opportunity to attend, using totals achieved at National or International Competition in the previous six months to the final qualification event.

2021 National Championships Week

2020 Olympic Games

IMPORTANT NOTE: Athletes who were selected to attend the East Asian Championships and/or IberoAmerican Championships will be prioritized for this competition. Athletes that this applies to, please fill out the interest form and note if this applies.
