COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Weightlifting today announced BetterHelp as its official mental health partner, its first in the category. The world’s largest therapy service, BetterHelp has joined forces with the national governing body of Olympic weightlifting to offer discounted counseling services to its nationwide member base of more than 20,000.

The partnership with BetterHelp launched Oct. 10, 2021, in recognition of the World Health Organization’s annual World Mental Health Day. The global occasion is designed to raise awareness of mental health issues and the need for support in this area that so drastically affects every individual.

USA Weightlifting and BetterHelp are doing their part through this collaboration, which is the latest effort in USA Weightlifting’s Athlete Wellness Program that formally began in 2018. While the program is currently sustained by pro-bono counselors, the BetterHelp partnership will allow members to connect directly with licensed counselors more quickly and efficiently.

“Supporting athletes through both their physical and mental journeys – at every stage of their career – is at the core of USA Weightlifting, and we could not be more thrilled to upgrade our offerings by teaming up with BetterHelp,” USA Weightlifting CEO Phil Andrews said. “We have some of the strongest and most talented athletes in the world, but success on the platform would not be possible without the proper care in all aspects of life off it.”

Through the partnership, every USA Weightlifting member who subscribes to BetterHelp through Dec. 31, 2022, will receive a 35% discount on the services. BetterHelp is also providing USA Weightlifting with a select number of complimentary three-month subscriptions.

Making professional therapy available anytime, anywhere to those with a computer, tablet or phone, BetterHelp partners clients with the provider who best fits their needs. With access to psychologists (PhD/PsyD), marriage and family therapists (LMFT), clinical social workers (LCSW/LMSW) and board licensed professional counselors (LPC), BetterHelp facilitates 5 million sessions or chats per month.
